If a master control switch for power windows goes out, does it not allow any of the windows to go down?
I have pulled off my door panel of my ‘97 Ford Explorer and ran a test light to the wires controlling my master control switch. I have fire going to the power locks, but not to any of the wires that run my power windows. I need to know if the master switch goes out, will it affect the operation of all the power windows in my vehicle? I mean, if I’m sitting in the passenger seat and push the window button, for instance.
A bad connection in the master switch will cause the other switches on the doors to not work either.
Think of each motor as a single circuit with two switches on it. The master goes, and the other switch will never complete it.
Try spraying some electric cleaner in the wiring harnesses. It’s unlikely the actual open-close mechanism broke unless its obviously broken, wobbling, etc. More often its a dirty connection.
how do i break the steering lock an convert to push button start without a key at all?
i have an old junk car that i bought at an auction and it already has a push button starter installed but you still have to use the key to get power to the car and to unlock the steering lock i want to remove the steering lock and bypass the key alltogether!
listen the key is still gonna be used for the lock on the door so if that 5yo breaks the window or picks the lock then he deserves to start it and drive too! if you don’t know the answer then don’t respond!
Bad idea, but if you insist on doing this you must remove the steering wheel and them remove the steering wheel locking rod. The steering wheel lock plate looks like a great big washer with a u shaped slot on one edge and must stay in place to keep the steering shaft in alignment. The lock rod slides into that slot to lock the wheel. (G M cars, but others are similar) This will eliminate the steering lock.
